2023-24 Principal's Welcome and Back to School Information

Dear Spring Creek Families:

Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year at Spring Creek!

I am very fortunate to be returning to this lovely community as the Principal of Spring Creek Community School.

This is a rich and caring learning environment with dedicated staff and good community

spirit. I look forward to seeing you all, both familiar faces and new acquaintances.

Please see below for school start-up information.

In the meantime enjoy the rest of your summer holidays and we will see you soon!

Kindest regards,

Karen LaRochelle.

    • First day of school:
      • September 5 and runs from 8:30 am to 9:30 am for grades 1 through 7.
      • Kindergarten students will follow the schedule outlined here.
      • Grades 1 through 7 students will line up in the same area as the 2022-23 school year and will reconnect with classmates and teachers from last year.
    • First week of school:
      • Our second day of school and beyond will be regular hours of 8:30 am to 2:25 pm – please see the year calendar here for school day specifications and dates for planning your year. Students will continue to connect with last year's teachers and classmates for the duration of the first week until class configurations are complete.
      • We will notify all families with regards to transition day the day before students make their way to their new classes and teachers for the 2023-24 school year.
    • School supplies:
      • Teachers will be purchasing school supplies for their classes through a bulk discounter. We are asking parents to pay $45 for primary and $55 for intermediate through our online KEV system - this is a cost recovery initiative - fees collected from parents cover the costs spent on supplies. Please do not send personal school supplies to your students.
      • Individual items such as pencil cases, a special pen, clothing, etc., are still up to you as families to keep the tradition of back-to-school shopping alive.
    • Bussing:
      • All students who seek bus transportation are now required to register annually to receive a bus pass and to have a bus seat allocated to them. We encourage you to review District Policy 806 for more information about your child’s eligibility for school bus transportation. The above link also has the registration forms to register your child(ren) for the bus.
      • Busses will be running on September 5 for the one hour of school. Eligible, registered students will be able to catch the bus at their designated stop. Eligible students who register before the start of the school year will have a bus pass produced and delivered to the mailing address provided on the online registration form. Eligible students who apply after the start of the school year will have a bus pass produced and delivered to their school as soon as possible. Students applying as a courtesy rider (ineligible rider) will not be allocated a seat and pass until October 15, 2023, when ridership lists are finalized.
    • Our office will re-open on August 28th, 2023.
